French Eat Where

Casual

Casual French food covers crêperies, cafés, boulangeries and simple bistros where you can eat well without a big bill. These places tend to open early, serve all day and suit a quick lunch, brunch or relaxed dinner.

In Singapore, Saveur on Purvis Street made its name on low-priced duck confit, French Fold on Telok Ayer Street folds galettes and crêpes from breakfast to late, and Les Canons is an all-day Parisian-style bistro in IOI Central Boulevard Towers. Bonjour Bonsoir in Bangkok's Alliance Française serves brunch and set lunches. In Bali, My Cocotte Bistrot in Umalas, Little Frenchie in Pererenan, Warung Goûthé in Berawa and ÂME Bistro & Coffee near Ubud cover duck confit, quiche and crêpes. Levant Boulangerie in Jakarta's Cipete pairs sourdough with an all-day French kitchen.

Most of these take walk-ins, though Singapore's CBD spots fill up at weekday lunch. Hours vary, and some, such as ÂME, serve their main dishes only until early evening, so check before setting out. Dress is casual. These are the lowest-priced options in the guide.
