ÂME is a light, airy café-bistro on the Sanggingan road, a few minutes north of central Ubud. It has the easy rhythm of a neighbourhood spot: regulars arrive with children and dogs, coffee is taken seriously, and the kitchen keeps a French accent from breakfast through to early evening.
All-day breakfast covers crêpes filled with mushrooms, chicken, ham or salmon, a duck benedict, a salmon omelette and croissants stuffed with cured salmon or roast beef. From midday the bistro list adds the chef's picks of roasted duck leg and classic onion soup, along with roast beef rump, wood-fired chicken breast and a pumpkin risotto. Desserts are proper French ones: apple tarte Tatin, lemon meringue tart, profiteroles and chocolate mousse. A short list of Burgundy and Bordeaux wines is available by the glass or bottle.
It suits a long breakfast, a light lunch or an early dinner before 7pm, and it is easy with families. Book by email or simply walk in. It is also on GrabFood and GoFood for delivery around Ubud.
