Warung Goûthé is the Berawa restaurant of Jean and Yen, a French-Indonesian couple who opened it in 2016 and still run it as a family business. The room is homely and a little cluttered, with a bakery counter of tarts and pound cakes, sourdough baguettes and brioche baked on site.
Mornings bring French toast in plain, cinnamon or apple-and-raisin versions, the Farmer plate of eggs with homemade crispy bacon, and the Egg Pot with truffled mash. Later in the day the quiche of the day and the Boulaigou, a savoury crêpe with mushroom sauce, are solid choices. The grill section lets you pick chicken, pork loin, tuna, octopus or beef by weight with a marinade, and sides include gratin dauphinois and hand-cut fries. Finish with chocolate mousse or flan caramel.
Prices include tax and stay low for the area, so it suits families, solo diners and anyone wanting French home cooking without fuss. It is open all day, every day; walk in. The owners also run takeaway, catering and pastry orders under the Jean & Yen name.
