French Eat Where

Kuala Lumpur

French dining in the Klang Valley splits between Kuala Lumpur's high-rise districts, around KLCC, Bangsar and Damansara Heights, and the neighbourhood streets of Petaling Jaya's Section 17. Some places make the most of height and city views; others are small chef-run bistros.

Entier on the 41st floor of Alila Bangsar is Michelin Selected, serving regional French classics and a tasting menu with skyline views. Brasserie Fritz on the 23rd floor of The Troika has a seafood bar and tableside flambés, and Brasserie Léon in Damansara Heights serves tableside beef tartare and raclette until 1am. In PJ, Bistro à Table has served chef Isadora Chai's 'adaptive French' menus since 2011, and N.I.C.E Bistronome cooks the food of Nice, from bouillabaisse to fresh pasta.

Book Entier and Bistro à Table ahead, particularly at weekends. Smart casual suits the city brasseries. KLCC is served by the LRT, while Damansara Heights and Section 17 are easiest by Grab. Expect fine-dining prices at Entier and mid-range to upscale bills elsewhere.
