Yeast opened in a Bangsar shophouse on Jalan Telawi 2 in 2012 as one of Kuala Lumpur's first French boulangerie-bistros, and it still runs from the same address with a small outdoor patio. The front counter sells house-baked breads, viennoiserie, tarts and pastries, while the dining room has black-and-white chequered floors, dark wooden chairs, red velvet banquettes and counter seats facing a semi-open kitchen.
Breakfast covers eggs Benedict with salmon, steak and eggs and pain perdu, served with the bakery's own bread. Later in the day the kitchen moves to bistro dishes such as steak tartare, confit de canard with potatoes and caramelised onion, and a beef burger, with seasonal specials such as duck and foie gras rillettes. Finish with a tart or cake from the pastry counter; there is a bûche de Noël at Christmas.
It suits a long breakfast, a casual lunch or an easy bistro dinner in Bangsar. It is open daily from 8am to 10pm. Reservations are taken for dinner only, from 6pm, by phone, WhatsApp or TableApp. From 5pm each day, breads and selected pastries are 30% off. A sister outlet operates in TTDI.
