Les Bouchons opened its first Malaysian outlet in August 2023 on the first floor of a building on Jalan Mayang, off Jalan Yap Kwan Seng and a short ride from KLCC. It follows the Singapore bistro that has served steak frites since 2002: red velvet banquettes, rattan bistro chairs, gilt-framed paintings, white tablecloths and a small terrace.
Steaks are the main event, from Angus rib eye and sirloin to Wagyu rump, T-bone and tomahawk by weight, each with salad and free-flow homemade fries. A beef fillet is flambéed with Armagnac at the table. Start with French onion soup, Burgundy snails in garlic butter, hand-cut beef tartare, house foie gras terrine or pan-seared foie gras, and there is lobster mac and cheese for those not eating steak.
It suits a steak dinner with friends or colleagues, and there is a private dining room for functions. The kitchen is pork- and lard-free. A set lunch runs daily from noon to 2.30pm, and the wine list is mostly French, with bottles also sold to take away. Book online through TableCheck or by WhatsApp.
