French Eat Where

Wan Chai & Causeway Bay

Wan Chai and Causeway Bay sit east of Central on Hong Kong Island, mixing harbourfront hotels and convention venues with busy shopping streets and residential blocks. French options here range from a top hotel dining room to small neighbourhood bistros, with one listing further east near Tai Koo.

L'Envol at The St. Regis Hong Kong holds two Michelin stars for Olivier Elzer's cooking, known for Hokkaido sea urchin, caviar courses and a whole roast chicken. Chouchou, a brasserie above Johnston Road opened in 2026 by the Babette team, serves whole roast duck à l'orange and a truffled Comté tourte. Fleur de Sel on Foo Ming Street is a small Breton-style crêperie with buckwheat galettes, and À Poêle near Tai Koo MTR serves steak frites, mussels and duck confit with good-value set lunches.

Book L'Envol well ahead and dress smartly. The bistros are easier for walk-ins. Wan Chai, Causeway Bay and Tai Koo are all on the MTR Island Line. Prices range from mid-range crêpes and set lunches to a full tasting menu.
