Bouchon has been a fixture of Elgin Street since 2011, a small, unfussy room in the middle of Soho's restaurant strip. It belongs to S&S Hospitality and keeps to the classic bistro script: tight tables, a chalkboard feel and a short list of French boutique wines.
Steak frites is the order most people come for, served with Béarnaise and a pile of fries. Before that, share escargots in garlic and parsley butter or a bowl of French onion soup, then move on to moules marinière, duck confit or a rich boeuf bourguignon. Foie gras is on the menu for those after something richer.
It suits a casual weeknight dinner, a weekend lunch or a relaxed meal before drinks in Soho. The kitchen runs all day at weekends, and there are separate lunch, brunch and children's menus. On Mondays a 'Super Mondays' deal has offered two mains for the price of one at dinner. Book through Bistrochat, by phone or by email.
