Çava Bien Marché sits at the end of a garden alley off Dibuk Road in Phuket Old Town, styled like a small French market with a chef's bar at the back. The cooking is what the French call bistronomy: classic dishes done with fine-dining technique but served without ceremony. Chef Sébastien, who grew up in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, worked in Paris alongside Yves Camdeborde before moving to Thailand.
Begin with the foie gras crème brûlée, the breaded Burgundy snails or French onion soup gratinée, or share a cheese and charcuterie board. From the grill come grass-fed Australian tenderloin and ribeye, New Zealand lamb rack and a Rossini tournedos with foie gras and truffle sauce. Lighter mains include duck breast with orange sauce and tiger prawns flambéed with pastis. Tarte tropézienne and peach Melba close the meal.
A relaxed choice for a date or dinner with friends in the old town. Weekend lunch sets run noon to 3pm from 390 THB, and the wine list is mostly French. Book via Chope, phone or WhatsApp; pets are welcome.
