Scarlett takes up the 37th floor of the Pullman Bangkok Hotel G on Silom Road, with a dark, plant-lined dining room and a 120-square-metre open-air terrace looking over the city. It belongs to the same group as the Scarlett bars in Hong Kong and Porto, and the mood is lively rather than hushed.
The kitchen works around a central grill. Steaks are the main draw, from Charolais and Australian Angus to wagyu, served with a strong béarnaise, and seafood such as octopus, sea bass and turbot comes off the same fire. Duck confit, a 12-hour braised wagyu beef cheek and French oysters fill out the menu, and the cheese counter is worth a visit before dessert.
It works well for a sundowner that turns into dinner, especially for groups or a date with a view. The wine list leans towards Bordeaux, with plenty of bottles under 2,000 baht. Happy hour runs daily until 7pm, and Tuesday brings one-dollar oysters. Book a terrace table through SevenRooms, particularly on weekend evenings.
