HENRI comes from the team behind Bread & Hearth and Sourdough Factory, so the bakery is central: loaves and viennoiserie are baked in-house from before dawn. The bistro opened on Pekin Street in 2022 and now trades from Kreta Ayer Road in Chinatown, running from breakfast through to dinner.
Mornings are for pain de campagne, croissants and the almond croissant made with house almond cream. At lunch and dinner the menu turns to bistro staples: duck confit, magret de canard with a red wine reduction, bœuf bourguignon and dry-aged beef from the grill. Duck rillettes make a good opener, and the crème brûlée and soufflé are the desserts to save room for. The wine list leans on French labels, including Rhône reds.
It works for a working breakfast, a relaxed lunch or an easy dinner before drinks in Chinatown. Reservations go through the website or by phone, and groups of six or more pay a S$50 deposit. Dress is casual.
