Bonjour Ma Cuisine took over the Craig Road shophouse that Ma Cuisine uses at night, turning it into a brunch and lunch room run by Mathieu Escoffier and Anthony Charmetant. Red banquettes, wine bottles stacked along the walls and a one-page menu set the tone: a Paris neighbourhood café rather than a tasting-menu temple.
Start with a butter croissant or eggs meurette poached in red wine with bacon and mushrooms. The pike quenelle in Nantua sauce is the dish regulars talk about, rich with crustacean flavour, while the truffle croque madame and roast French spring chicken are reliable lunches. Heavier appetites can go for bœuf bourguignon or bavette with shallots. Finish with pain perdu served with kaya or crème anglaise, or a Trou Normand of apple sorbet and Calvados.
It suits a weekend brunch, a long weekday lunch or anyone curious about Ma Cuisine without the dinner bill. Wines come by the glass, carafe or bottle from the parent restaurant's list. Bookings are taken online; it closes on Mondays and does not open for dinner. Ma Cuisine itself serves dinner from the same address.
