Le Clos fills a corner of New Bahru, the creative hub in the old Nan Hua school on Kim Yam Road. It works as a wine shop, deli, bar and restaurant at once, with walls of bottles, a planted terrace and a pétanque pitch outside. The list runs past 2,000 labels, mostly French, and the cooking is built to go with them.
Start with oysters, Duculty charcuterie or the homemade foie gras terrine, then share an Alsatian bacon and onion tarte flambée or a croque with Parisian ham and aged Comté. Mussels in vin jaune marinière with house fries are a solid main, while groups go for the Josper-grilled Black Angus rib or a whole turbot, priced by weight. Finish with the hazelnut praliné choux or the vanilla Parisian flan.
It suits wine lovers, relaxed dates and groups who like to share. The set lunch, served Thursday to Sunday, runs S$39 for two courses or S$49 for three, with dishes such as pike quenelle in Nantua sauce. Book through SevenRooms; dress is smart casual.
