Brasserie Gavroche occupies a house on Mohamed Sultan Road near River Valley and leans fully into an old-Paris look, with red velvet curtains, framed photographs, brass fittings and white tablecloths, with a leafy outdoor terrace. Chef Frédéric Colin bases much of the menu on recipes from his grandfather Henri.
Start with Grandpa Henri's onion soup, his baked pork terrine with duck liver, oysters or Burgundy snails in parsley and garlic butter. Mains cover the brasserie canon: beef tartare, ribeye with béarnaise and fries, homemade duck confit, baby lamb chops and Dover sole meunière for two. Crêpes flambéed with Grand Marnier and an upside-down apple tart close things out, and there is a French weekend roast of Label Rouge chicken.
The weekday business lunch costs S$58++ for a starter, main and coffee, which makes it a solid choice for client meals. Dinner runs late, with last orders at 10pm. Book through the restaurant's website or by phone, and ask about set menus for groups of eight or more. Takeaway and delivery are also offered.
