Le Bistrot du Sommelier occupies a mural-painted building on Armenian Street, near the Peranakan Museum. Downstairs is a warm, candlelit dining room under chandeliers; upstairs, the Rillette Bar is a more casual space for wine and charcuterie that also takes private events. The wine list, built by sommelier Maximilien Fedkiw, leans towards small producers and natural wines.
The kitchen cooks cuisine bourgeoise: generous plates and long, slow cooking. Begin with house rillettes of duck, pork or rabbit, terrines and pâtés, or escargots. Mains include rabbit in mustard and white wine cream, half a French chicken roasted with forty garlic cloves, crisp duck leg confit and red-wine-braised beef cheeks. Groups can share an oven-roasted Angus côte de bœuf. Desserts run from profiteroles to prunes in Armagnac.
It suits a group dinner, a wine-led evening or a business lunch. A three-course set lunch costs S$48++, with an optional two-glass wine pairing. Book online or by WhatsApp; it is closed on Sundays, and BYO is discouraged.
