Paris Bistro takes up part of the 13th floor of Jakarta Mori Tower on Jalan Sudirman, with floor-to-ceiling windows over the skyline. Inside, red velvet chairs, marble tables and dark wood shelving give it the look of a Left Bank bistro, and it stays open from mid-morning until midnight.
The menu sticks to French bistro staples. Start with bone marrow topped with escargots and herb crumbs, baked camembert with honey, beef tartare or frogs' legs in lemon butter. Mains include beef-cheek boeuf bourguignon with mash, confit de canard with gratin dauphinois, duck breast with green olives, scallops in beurre blanc and salmon en papillote. There is also an onion soup gratinée and a few pastas, including a shrimp pappardelle in bisque.
It works for a business lunch near the Sudirman offices or dinner with a view. Mondays bring an entrecôte night with free-refill truffle fries, and Thursdays an unlimited-steak deal. Set menus for groups start at Rp500,000++ a head and need a day's notice. Book on Chope.
