CORK French Tavern sits on Jalan Danau Tamblingan, Sanur's busiest restaurant street, in an airy room of rattan chairs, white tablecloths and a brick-backed bar lined with bottles. It runs from early breakfast until midnight, and doubles as a wine shop, so you can pick a bottle off the shelf to drink with dinner.
The evening menu is built around French bistro cooking. Begin with Burgundy escargots in garlic parsley butter, tavern onion soup gratinée or a grass-fed beef tartare with melba toast, then move on to wagyu beef bourguignon with Savoyard gratin, duck leg confit with cassis sauce or barramundi meunière. The butcher's corner offers wagyu ribeye, striploin and tenderloin with béarnaise or peppercorn sauce. Desserts include profiteroles, fine apple tart and a Papua vanilla crème brûlée.
It works best for a relaxed date or a long dinner over wine. Sharing sets serve two or four, and there is a kids' menu plus an Indonesian corner for anyone wanting rendang. Book on Chope or WhatsApp; prices carry tax and service.
