La Table sits on the first floor of the New World Millennium Hong Kong Hotel on Mody Road and bills itself as the only hotel French restaurant in Tsim Sha Tsui East. The room was refurbished in a relaxed brasserie style, with views into the open kitchen and a private dining room for up to eight.
The menu draws on dishes from across France. Bouillabaisse, côte de boeuf and croque monsieur are house staples, and the grill handles 20-day dry-aged USDA Prime steaks. The Daily Grill set for two (HK$888 plus service) pairs a starter such as beef tartare or crab and avocado timbale with a main that changes by day, from US tomahawk to dry-aged Tin Hong chicken, and adds seared foie gras. Cognac lobster bisque and tarte Tatin are worth adding.
It suits hotel guests, couples sharing a big steak and small groups marking an occasion, with set lunches on weekdays. Call the hotel to book. The restaurant closes on Sundays and public holidays.
